Important update: Health Club reopening delayed

The refurbishment of Willoughby Leisure Centre is progressing well. Roof works have been completed, the new aquatic facilities are taking shape, and upgrades to the Central Spine are continuing. These improvements are visible from outside the building and reflect our commitment to delivering a modern, safe facility for the community.

Unfortunately, the Health Club reopening has been delayed beyond October due to essential safety requirements. The revised timeline now anticipates reopening in early 2026.

In accordance with the Building Code of Australia, a fire-rated curtain must be installed between the new aquatic building and the existing structure to ensure maximum safety and compliance. It has been identified that the louvre windows in the Health Club, located closest to the new aquatic building, are impacted by this requirement. These works must be completed before the Health Club can safely reopen.

We understand this extended closure is disappointing and sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding. Our priority is to deliver a safe, compliant, and modern facility that will serve the community for many years to come.
