Construction is progressing and the new Willoughby Leisure Centre is taking shape, with Council working towards an opening in August or September.

The transformed facility will deliver significant new amenities for the community with four pools, including a children's splash zone, spa and sauna facilities and a welcoming café designed as a place to relax and connect.

Willoughby Leisure Centre features include:

  • Eight-lane 25m lap pool – new and expanded for training and fitness swimming.
  • Dedicated learn-to-swim pool – specifically designed for swim school programs.
  • Warm-water 25m program pool – for aqua-fitness, rehabilitation and therapy.
  • Children's splash zone – safe, engaging water play area.
  • New spa and sauna – relaxation and recovery amenities.
  • A café at the heart of the building, designed as a place to relax and connect.

Once the Centre opens, visitors will be able to enjoy a full swim school program with online bookings, an expanded group fitness timetable and aquatic fitness classes in the dedicated program pool.

Construction is expected to be handed over to Council in the coming months. Following handover, essential system commissioning, safety testing and staff inductions must be completed to ensure the Centre can open safely and confidently.

This is a complex, large-scale aquatic facility requiring careful coordination and quality assurance at every stage. Council's focus is on completing the build to a high standard with all quality and compliance works properly finalised. In parallel with construction, Council is already preparing for opening, including planning systems, processes, staff recruitment and training.
