WLC Run Club 9 Week Program

WLC Run Club is designed for all levels of fitness and running ability. Whether you are running to train and compete in an event, for fitness, or fun, there's something for everyone. This 9 week program will offer a variety of sessions with the option to compete in the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival on Sunday 19 September 2010.

Dates: Saturday 17 July - Tuesday 14 September 2010

Times: Saturday 6:30am - 7:30am & Tuesday 6.30pm - 7.30pm

Cost: $67.50 for members, $135 for non-members

Training for an event 

For those who are keen to train and participate in an event, the program will offer longer training runs for those wanting to complete the Half Marathon (21km) or Marathon (42km). The Blackmores sydney Running Festival also offers a 9km event and a 4km event.

Routes

Runs will vary in distance and terrain every week with each course having options to suit different levels of fitness and running experience but will be based around Willoughby Leisure Centre and the surrounding suburbs.

Where & When

Sessions are hled on Saturday at 6.30am and Tuesday at 6.30pm. Meet at the WLC Entrance. As the Centre is not open until 7am on a Saturday, make sure you bring water with you and have used the bathroom before you arrive.

Running Gear

  • Good comfortable running shoes are the most important item you'll need. Depending on how often you run, if you haven't replaced your shoes in 12 months, it might be time to break in a new pair.
  • Try to wear clothing that breathes - most brands have fabrics that wick away the moisture and are designed to keep you cool or warm depending on the outdoor temerature.
  • Fluids – water is best carried in a fuel belt or back pack. Carrying a bottle can throw your stride off and become annoying. Try to hydrate well before running.
